Agra - India

Agra is part of the “Golden Triangle” tourist circuit, together with Delhi and Jaipur, and home for the Taj Mahal. It is located an easy 2-hour train ride from Delhi, or, according to locals, a completely random length of time by car, because of the many obstacles you may encounter along the way.

Like several monuments you visit in India, the Taj is a mausoleum (those people knew how to be dead in style). It such a popular reference about India that you arrive there half-expecting what you will see. Forget it: Actually a complex comprising several structures, the whole place is really impressive in person, and would more than justify visiting Agra by itself. The city offers other interesting attractions, though, like the Red Fort and the Fatehpur Sikri.
