Ushuaia - Tierra del Fuego - Argentina

Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, is located at Tierra del Fuego (Spanish for Land of Fire), in Argentina. Their main slogan is "Ushuaia, end of the world, beginning of everything". It's a small city surrounded by big mountains where during wintertime (Jul-Sep)there is a nice skiing spot (Cerro Castor). I've been there during summertime (January) and for five days I couldn't see the stars. The sunset is around  11:30pm! It' s awkward because you never feel that the day really ends. In places like that, you understand the importance of the cycles of nature.

Lakes and mountains

Around Ushuaia there are many different beautiful spots for photography. Lakes and mountains that have snow even in summer. The main tours sold in the city will give you access to all these places. Even with bad weather and stormy waters, I chose to do a boat tour through  Beagle Channel and I could  see many rocky islands, photograph birds that look like penguins, real penguins and sea lions. Amazing. It was quite an adventure specially when we were coming back. Because of the waves, many people aboard got seasick.

Contemplation at the end of the world

This city is also a duty free shop zone. It's a good place to buy winter clothes at very reasonable prices. Coats, boots from top brands are available at the main street stores. The city itself is not beautiful but it is a unique place that deserves to be visited.
